"statement": "I was born in Northampton 47 years ago, and apart from 4 years around the turn of the century, I have lived in the town for all of my life. I've spent many hours watching the Cricket Club, and the Cobblers, and watching bands at the Roadmender. I love this town.\n\nI joined the Green Party in 2010, having previously been a member of the Labour Party. I no longer felt a connection to that party, mainly driven by the support of that party and our local MP for the war in Iraq.\n\nThe Green Party has a consistent set of values at the heart of everything that we say or do, and we recognise that taking care of ourselves and taking care of the environment are the most important things that we can do.\n\nI feel that Northampton has lost its identity over the past 20 years. We've had a succession of councils who seem to think that the town centre will thrive if they knock all trace of originality out of it, and we've had MPs in Northampton North who do as they are told, rarely speaking up for the people and the town that they represent.\n\nIf you really want a change, instead of voting for the Conservative candidate who has been your MP for the past 7 years, or the Labour candidate who was your MP for the 13 years before that, your only choice is to vote for your Green Party candidate.\n\nI guarantee that as a Green MP, I would stand up for Northampton in Westminster and I would demand the best for our town.\n\nThese are my campaign priorities for Northampton.\n\n- The new bus station is not fit for purpose, and it's clogging up the town centre. Northampton needs a new integrated transport policy, which should include better bus lanes, better cycle lanes. park & ride and a new bus station.\n\n- The air quality in the town centre and in Kingsthorpe is terrible. The new integrated transport policy has to feed into the Air Quality strategy so that as well as helping to get Northampton moving again, we are able to get Northampton breathing again as well.\n\n- There needs to be a full independent inquiry into the Sixfields Stadium expansion. The report from the auditors showed that taxpayers money was mislaid with extraordinary lack of scrutiny. We need to shine a light on the scandal. \n\n- Northampton should be a leader in Community Energy. Rather than supporting developers who want to build massive power generators in the town centre, we should be working to encourage the takeup of solar energy and helping to set up small community energy companies.\n\n- Northampton needs more school places, but it doesn't need free schools. Let's get more school places i the areas that we need them, and let's get the council setting up new schools again.\n\nAs I said - I am the genuine change candidate in this election. if you want to move away from the Conservative/Labour duopoly that has represented Northampton North for the past 20 years, vote Green on June 8th.\n\nSteve Miller \nJune 2017"

"statement": "Growing up in Ealing, West London, I was obsessed with trees and the environment. I had been given a strong sense of identity, coming from a Sephardic Jewish background on my Dad’s side and a rich history of migration on my Mum’s side. By the time I moved to Exeter in 2012, to study Archaeology and Anthropology, I felt very frustrated by society; at the way people had been shut out of public life, be it because of money, race, gender, sexuality or religion; and, at politicians who turned a blind eye while corporations tore apart our natural environment.\n\nBy the European elections 2014, I wanted to take action, and joined the Green Party. I became Exeter University Green Party’s Publicity Officer, organising large talks and promoting the Green Party at the University. \n\nFollowing my degree, I got more involved in the local community getting involved in campaigning against cuts to bus services and organising an anti-austerity protest. I decided to stay in Exeter and I now live in St Thomas, an area that stretches from the inner city to the countryside. \n\nI’m the Youth Coordinator of the community association and active in projects tackling food poverty, protecting green spaces and improving youth services. I’ve stood in the local elections in 2016 and 2017, coming third in this year’s County Council elections in the Exwick and St Thomas division.\n\nOutside of activism, I work at the Student Information Desk at Exeter University, providing advice and technical support to staff and students.\n\nI’m delighted to be your Green Parliamentary candidate and I am excited at the opportunity to stand up for our city!"

She works in the NHS as a nurse on the Paediatric Critical Care Unit at the QMC and is the Chair of Nottingham Green Party. She is well-organised, can manage large workloads and is able to put people first in all that she does.\n\nKirsty knows what the NHS needs. She will reverse the decline in funding for the NHS, make sure that NHS is only funded by public money and that all services are delivered by public services, not private companies\n.\nKirsty rents flat she lives in, so she understands the difficulties in renting. She will introduce rent controls, build 500,000 socially rented homes and introduce a Landlord Licensing Scheme to ensure minimum standards.\n\nVote Green on the 8th of June, Kirsty will stand up for you."

"bio": "Liberal Democrat candidate for Louth and Horncastle is Lisa Gabriel, a freelance composer and writer, before this, she worked in the constituency as a teacher with Lincolnshire Music Service. \n“My priorities include increasing opportunities for young people in the area, clamping down on zero hours contracts, building on and improving facilities for local people, preserving and enhancing Louth Hospital and encouraging people to use it more. \nPreventing and reversing cuts in education spending is vital for our future, particularly in rural areas like Lincolnshire where they have been hardest hit. Liberal Democrats, we would stop education cuts, invest an extra £7 billion in schools and colleges and protect per pupil funding in real terms, ensuring no local school loses out from the National Funding Formula.\nA hard Brexit will be disastrous for the country. Since the European Referendum, we have already seen the value of the pound in our pockets plummet. This hits the poorest members of our society hard and causes great anxiety and suffering. The Liberal Democrats will fight to stay in the Single Market. People need a final say in the deal reached with Europe and we want to ensure this happens. \nThis election gives us all a chance to change the country’s direction and provide a strong opposition to stand up for a free, open and tolerant society in a strong, united Britain that will offer all people a bright future.\n\n\nMy date of birth is set to default :)",

Liberal Democrats, would stop education cuts, invest an extra £7 billion in schools and colleges and protect per pupil funding in real terms, ensuring no local school loses out from the National Funding Formula.\nA hard Brexit will be disastrous for the country. Since the European Referendum, we have already seen the value of the pound in our pockets plummet. This hits the poorest members of our society hard and causes great anxiety and suffering. People need a final say in the deal reached with Europe and we want to ensure this happens. \nThis election gives us all a chance to change the country’s direction and provide a strong opposition to stand up for a free, open and tolerant society in a strong, united Britain that will offer all people a bright future."

At the moment our MP is Speaker of the House, meaning he does not get to vote or influence national policies. As your MP, I endeavour to be a good constituency representative as well as a national one, making sure we get a say on a national platform. As the only candidate who lives in the constituency, I believe I am in touch with local issues, and will be offering a vote for a local representative.\n\nDespite the grand task of facing the speaker, I fiercely believe that someone had to take a stand to fight for a central ground ideology in our constituency. We have been lumped with the single issue parties from both the far left and far right which is inherently unfair. Despite not having a party, I have received huge support from people across the constituency who have felt disenfranchised for so long. In this David and Goliath battle, just because victory looks unachievable, it doesn't mean you stand aside.\n\nAs a 25 year old teacher and the son of an lifelong NHS nurse, I have knowledge of how our social services work first hand. My main policy focuses are education, health care, and housing. I vow to stand up against the cuts to local schools, ensure community health care services receive the support they need to remain open, and to work towards alternative options for new housing developments. I understand that new houses change the dynamic of whole villages and towns and put pressure on existing infrastructure. We need to find new realistic, alternative solutions."

Particular passions being education and mental health support.\n\nHere are a few of my stances:\nI am against Fracking - the evidence doesn't support it and the risk to the area due to mine shafts etc are too high, we need to focus on renewable energy and technology before we use up our natural resources. \n\nI am against repealing the ban on fox hunting, it's a cruel and barbaric practice.\n\nI want new affordable homes for Bolton West to include enough social and private rentals (priced at the right level, scrapping the lettings fees and making deposits affordable), as well as providing enough starter homes. To stand against development greenbelt as the housing is generally unaffordable, has a lack of supporting infrastructure (schools, doctors, dentists and increases existing congestion) and destroys the green space of our wildlife, farm land and leisure space to enhance resident's well being.\n\nI want to ensure that school funding is not lost in real terms. Every child deserves to go to a good school and reducing their funding will reduce that chance as class sizes are likely to increase and curriculums reduce.\n\nI want free school meals ultimately for all children. If we means test it the children in poverty whose parents miss out on state help (through being just above an arbitrary threshold, a lack of knowledge or to avoid stigma) are the ones who will suffer most. By providing school meals for all we can ensure every child gets a nutritionally balanced meal each day.\n\nUltimately, I want the best for the residents of all Bolton West and its communities. Bolton West is a great place to live and it is vital to encourage businesses who will provide jobs and attract the right investment in our towns; keeping our towns thriving will help retain our community values and sustain them into future generations. I will fight for a brighter future for Bolton West and listen to the concerns of its residents."
