"statement": "Kirsty Jones, 27, is standing to become the Member of Parliament for Nottingham North.\n\nKirsty moved to Nottingham in 2010 when she started her nurse training. She works in the NHS as a nurse on the Paediatric Critical Care Unit at the QMC and is the Chair of Nottingham Green Party. She is well-organised, can manage large workloads and is able to put people first in all that she does.\n\nKirsty knows what the NHS needs. She will reverse the decline in funding for the NHS, make sure that NHS is only funded by public money and that all services are delivered by public services, not private companies\n.\nKirsty rents flat she lives in, so she understands the difficulties in renting. She will introduce rent controls, build 500,000 socially rented homes and introduce a Landlord Licensing Scheme to ensure minimum standards.\n\nVote Green on the 8th of June, Kirsty will stand up for you."

I feel strongly that we need a new direction in politics and new voices in parliament, putting evidence and the common good before vested interests and nationalism. As a scientist working at Newcastle University, I see the need for investment in education and research for the new green economy, and to protect our country and our city from a disastrous Hard Brexit.\n\nThe Green Party’s policies on climate change or air pollution offer joined-up solutions to looming catastrophes, through progressive ideas on transport, housing, energy, and waste. We are the only party thinking seriously about the future of employment in an age of increasing job insecurity, with ideas like the Universal Basic Income gathering momentum and support. I am passionate about giving the people of Newcastle East a chance to vote for a Green future.\n\nI am the chair of the Newcastle branch of Tyne and Wear Public Transport User Group and believe strongly in the need to rethink our transport future. I have worked with local people to help make residential neighbourhoods safer for walking and cycling, find ways to reduce air pollution, and improve the quality of life on our streets. Outside of politics I enjoy supporting local football teams (from Newcastle United to Blyth Spartans), sampling craft beers, and trying to grow vegetables at my allotment."

"statement": "Ishleen is a senior physiotherapist working within the NHS, specialising in care of the elderly, acute medicine, A&E and neurological physiotherapy.\nIshleen gained her Bachelor's degree from New Delhi, India in 2009 and went on to pursue a Master's degree from Sheffield Hallam University, and qualified in 2012.\nSince then she has worked in various acute settings such as hospitals including the Northern General Hospital Sheffield, Chesterfield hospital as well as in the community, visiting people in their homes.\nHaving worked closely with the people and the communities, she has gained an in-depth understanding of the health care and social needs of the people. She also believes a better future depends on the education of our children and wishes to promote basic and higher education for all.\n\"I've seen first hand how the NHS is being run. There is real pressure on the front line and it seems that people are being sent to A&E because they can't see their GP. It seems as though you have to plan on being ill, getting a GP appointment is incredibly difficult. We need more doctors and we need to embrace the modern world, why can't we move to a system where qualified pharmacists have a qualified doctor on video link and assess, triage and treat minor ailments all in one place? We need efficiency and common sense.\"\n\"I chose to stand for the SDP because they are a party that has it;s finger on the pulse of the modern world issues.\"\n\"I will bring a fresh way of thinking to the people of Sheffield South East. They deserve an MP who lives in the real world.\""

"statement": "Last year I felt like politics and politicians weren't listening to me or the people I knew. With the tragic death of Jo Cox, I also heard lots of people saying that it was a job that they couldn't or wouldn't do. I felt like I could and decided it was time to stand up and be the voice of those who hadn't been heard by the political world.\n\nI am a teacher and have worked in various other sectors including the NHS, the legal sector and customer service. I live with my fiancé in Bolton and am a great believer in community action. I volunteer with the girl guides as well as supporting various campaigns. Particular passions being education and mental health support.\n\nHere are a few of my stances:\nI am against Fracking - the evidence doesn't support it and the risk to the area due to mine shafts etc are too high, we need to focus on renewable energy and technology before we use up our natural resources. \n\nI am against repealing the ban on fox hunting, it's a cruel and barbaric practice.\n\nI want new affordable homes for Bolton West to include enough social and private rentals (priced at the right level, scrapping the lettings fees and making deposits affordable), as well as providing enough starter homes. To stand against development greenbelt as the housing is generally unaffordable, has a lack of supporting infrastructure (schools, doctors, dentists and increases existing congestion) and destroys the green space of our wildlife, farm land and leisure space to enhance resident's well being.\n\nI want to ensure that school funding is not lost in real terms. Every child deserves to go to a good school and reducing their funding will reduce that chance as class sizes are likely to increase and curriculums reduce.\n\nI want free school meals ultimately for all children. If we means test it the children in poverty whose parents miss out on state help (through being just above an arbitrary threshold, a lack of knowledge or to avoid stigma) are the ones who will suffer most. By providing school meals for all we can ensure every child gets a nutritionally balanced meal each day.\n\nUltimately, I want the best for the residents of all Bolton West and its communities. Bolton West is a great place to live and it is vital to encourage businesses who will provide jobs and attract the right investment in our towns; keeping our towns thriving will help retain our community values and sustain them into future generations. I will fight for a brighter future for Bolton West and listen to the concerns of its residents."

"statement": "Max has lived in Solihull for over 20 years and is a local resident and councillor so he really understands the needs of our area and is willing to stand up for what’s right.\nMax has owned and run his own business, and won multiple awards as a manager in a multinational company. He is a Councillor for Shirley South and Green Party Spokesperson for Economic Development. He knows what we need to do to get the economy working for everyone. 1 in 3 children are now living in poverty in the West Midlands, and amazingly most of them are in working families. This has to change and you can help make change possible by voting for Max.\nMax said, “Solihull has been my home for more than 20 years of my life. There is nowhere else I would be prouder to stand for election to parliament. It’s also a time when our country needs people to stand up for our NHS, our schools and our greenbelt. My sister is a doctor and my brother is a teacher, so I know just how difficult things are in the NHS and schools due to this government’s cuts.\nWe need to listen to the people on Brexit and ensure we make a long term success from it, by looking at the opportunities it presents for investing in local economies, but ensure we keep protections for the environment and human rights.\nThere’s a clear choice on 8th June: another Conservative government that promises stability but is slowly eroding the most important services in our society, or a strong voice for the people of Solihull in Parliament by voting for me. It’s a Conservative who is told by his party how to vote, or an independently-minded Green who understands and is free to vote in Shirley’s interests\"."

"statement": "Gail Kent has lived in South London for almost 20 years and loves the area's vibrancy, energy and its naturally liberal feel. \n\nGail is married to Tim and they live with their two children in East Dulwich. She loves cycling, baking and to travel with her family.\n\nGail was born and brought up in Glasgow, where her parents still are. She spent 17 years working for the National Crime Agency (the UK's equivalent of the FBI) where she saw every day how important international cooperation is for keeping us all safe. She served for four years at the UK embassy in Rome and now works for Facebook where she looks after law enforcement operations to tackle cybercrime, drug trafficking, money laundering and people smuggling. \n\nGail is a life-long Liberal Democrat, but it was the Brexit referendum that made her want to really do something about the state of our politics. She decided to get involved and stand for Parliament to continue the Liberal Democrat fight for a Britain that is open, tolerant and united. The sort of Britain that Dulwich and West Norwood stands for: where we are stronger when we try to find similarities, rather than through promoting fear."

I had been given a strong sense of identity, coming from a Sephardic Jewish background on my Dad’s side and a rich history of migration on my Mum’s side. By the time I moved to Exeter in 2012, to study Archaeology and Anthropology, I felt very frustrated by society; at the way people had been shut out of public life, be it because of money, race, gender, sexuality or religion; and, at politicians who turned a blind eye while corporations tore apart our natural environment.\n\nBy the European elections 2014, I wanted to take action, and joined the Green Party. I became Exeter University Green Party’s Publicity Officer, organising large talks and promoting the Green Party at the University. \n\nFollowing my degree, I got more involved in the local community getting involved in campaigning against cuts to bus services and organising an anti-austerity protest. I decided to stay in Exeter and I now live in St Thomas, an area that stretches from the inner city to the countryside. \n\nI’m the Youth Coordinator of the community association and active in projects tackling food poverty, protecting green spaces and improving youth services. I’ve stood in the local elections in 2016 and 2017, coming third in this year’s County Council elections in the Exwick and St Thomas division.\n\nOutside of activism, I work at the Student Information Desk at Exeter University, providing advice and technical support to staff and students.\n\nI’m delighted to be your Green Parliamentary candidate and I am excited at the opportunity to stand up for our city!"

I’m standing for Parliament in the 2017 general election because I think we need new choices, and an optimistic vision of the future.\n\nI've built a new party, Something New, because I think the old parties are falling apart and can't cope with the 21st century. We do everything 100% in the open, and anyone can contribute to our manifesto. Democracy won't be the same in 50 years, and we're here to make that change."
